Privacy Policy

1. Introduction and scope #

One Thirteen (“Operator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located in the United States, operates Bit Buddy and is responsible for the processing described in this policy where applicable.

This policy covers the Bit Buddy app and related Bit Buddy pages on the One Thirteen website.

2. Privacy summary #

• Bit Buddy does not require a user account.
• Most information stays on the device where you entered it.
• iCloud sync is optional and only syncs non-sensitive metadata.
• On-device AI does not send your data to a server.
• Cloud AI is optional and uses anonymized information.
• Bit Buddy does not sell personal information or use third-party advertising.

3. Storage architecture #

Bit Buddy stores your device library and settings locally. With iCloud Sync enabled, the following non-sensitive metadata may sync through Apple CloudKit:

• Device name, capacity, and type
• Tags, colors, and icons
• Favorite and important flags
• Purchase date
• Maintenance task schedules

The following sensitive information remains local to the device where it was entered and is not included in sync or cloud AI requests:

• File contents and storage breakdowns
• Physical addresses, GPS coordinates, and IP addresses
• Personal notes
• Maintenance task and log descriptions

4. iCloud sync #

Bit Buddy uses Apple CloudKit for cross-device sync when you enable the feature. Sync requires an iCloud account signed in on your device and can be disabled in Bit Buddy settings. Apple stores and processes synced data under its own Privacy Policy. We do not operate the iCloud infrastructure or receive your Apple payment-card information.

Bit Buddy is designed to prevent sensitive fields such as notes, locations, and file contents from entering sync operations. No sync design can replace a separate backup of information that matters to you.

5. On-device AI #

On devices running iOS 26 or later, Bit Buddy can use Apple Foundation Models for AI-powered insights. Processing occurs on your device, works offline, and does not send your queries or results to Bit Buddy, the Operator, Apple, or a third-party AI service.

6. Optional cloud AI #

On supported older systems, Bit Buddy may offer an optional cloud AI alternative. If you enable it, requests use the OpenRouter API through a Vercel endpoint and are anonymized first. Device names become generic types, exact purchase dates become relative ages, and notes, file contents, location data, IP addresses, and physical addresses are excluded.

Cloud AI requests may include anonymized device type and category, capacity and usage percentage, content classification, status flags, tags, and maintenance-task counts. Cloud AI can be disabled at any time.

7. Widgets and Auto Add #

Widgets read from a local SwiftData container shared through the group.com.bitbuddy Apple app group. The widget extension makes no network requests and displays non-sensitive information such as device names, capacity, and status.

Auto Add detects connected devices on your device without external network requests. You must confirm before a detected device is added to your library.

8. Analytics #

Bit Buddy uses TelemetryDeck for limited, anonymous product analytics. It may process an anonymized installation identifier, feature-interaction events, screen or feature names, app and operating-system versions, general device type, and an event timestamp rounded to the hour.

Bit Buddy does not intentionally send TelemetryDeck device names, notes, file contents, storage breakdowns, location data, GPS coordinates, physical addresses, IP addresses, exact purchase dates, or advertising identifiers. See TelemetryDeck’s Privacy Policy and Privacy FAQ.

9. Purchases and third-party services #

Bit Buddy Pro purchases are processed through Apple and managed with RevenueCat. Apple handles payment-card information; the Operator does not store or receive that card information. RevenueCat may process purchase and entitlement metadata. Current pricing and purchase terms are shown by Apple.

• Apple CloudKit: optional iCloud sync.
• TelemetryDeck: anonymous product analytics.
• RevenueCat: purchase-entitlement management.
• Firebase Remote Config: AI model configuration; no user records are sent for this purpose.
• OpenRouter and Vercel: optional cloud AI processing using anonymized data.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices.

10. Security and controls #

Bit Buddy includes local-only storage for sensitive fields, optional biometric authentication, Secure Wipe, and Apple platform encryption for synced data. You control iCloud Sync, cloud AI, and analytics through the available app settings. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure.

11. Retention and deletion #

• Local records remain until you delete them, use Secure Wipe, or remove Bit Buddy.
• Disabling iCloud Sync stops future sync operations; Apple may retain records under its policies.
• Analytics data is retained for 24 months.
• Purchase and entitlement records may remain as needed to restore purchases, prevent fraud, meet accounting obligations, and comply with law.

For a privacy request, Contact us. Because some analytics identifiers are anonymous, we may be unable to connect a backend record to a particular person.

12. Children, changes, and contact #

Bit Buddy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have received such information, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

We may update this policy as Bit Buddy or applicable requirements change. We will post revisions here and update the “Last updated” date.
